Artist's Description

Hamburg, Germany, 2014.

The series "Animal Portraits in Black & White" is about portraying animals as beings of unique and individual dignity, elegance, and beauty. I try to cut through stereotype views and open new perspectives on the subjects. In light of decreasing biodiversity, a new view of wildlife is desperately called for. If we see more in the animals than the brutal hunter, the ugly carnivore or the primitive jungle dweller, this might make it easier for us to see them
