This is from the Irish Hunger Memorial in Battery Park City, NYC.
Under a little green hill, with clear links to the Irish countryside, are some tunnels. On the blank stripes covering the walls, you can read about the Irish potato famine that caused over one million Irish farmers to emigrate to the U.S.
While walking around I saw this little boy alone, seemingly looking for his parents. He lost his cap, picked it up, and started to run out into the light.
There I was with my camera ready.
