This eagle is in captivity, due to an injury that prevents it from survival in the wild.
The light was filtering through the trees above the eagle's enclosure, creating a nice soft light. In just this one shot, the eagle shifted it's stance slightly changing the lighting, and just for a moment the eagle had a look of compassion.
It's strange, how lighting can transform a subject to look so different, from fierce and resolute, to compassionate. I suppose light does the very same to us.
