Fishing on stilts is a centuries old tradition in several areas of Sri lanka. Although beautiful to look at, these fishermen have very hard lives. Perched on uncomfortable stilts for hours, exposed to the elements in the hope of catching a few tiny fish that they can sell for next to nothing. Its no surprise that many of them have taken to pose for tourists instead.
