Snow-laden slopes are dramatized by the stark contrast of light and shadow in a monochrome setting. Sparse evergreen trees punctuate the smooth lines of a hill, buffeted by what appears to be a brisk wind, evidenced by wisps of snow being carried off the surface. The low angle of the sunlight casts elongated shadows that emphasize the textures of the landscape.
