The aluminum sheet is offset from the wall by a 3/4" thick wooden frame which is attached to the back. An old wooden pier extends into calm waters under a moody, cloudy sky, suggesting a serene yet slightly ominous atmosphere. At the end of the walkway, a dilapidated structure stands over the water, surrounded by a tangle of timeworn posts and beams. The long exposure of the photograph smooths the water surface, and distant lights illuminate the horizon with a soft glow, contrasting the prevailing gloom.
