Artist's Description

This is a portrait of a Cricula trifenestrata (Cricula silkmoth), a tiny moth of the family Saturniidae from tropical Asia. The wingspan is up to 9 cm. This species of moth is orange with different shades of brown, and has a straight line across the wings. His name is given because of the three windows in its wings (tri = three , fenestratata = windows). These windows are 3 places of the wing that are completally transparent.
