This picture was taken from the ferry that travels between Galway and the Aran Islands in Ireland. The islands are famous for the distinctive high-quality sweaters that the women traditionally made for the fishermen by hand, each with a specific pattern so that in the event of drowning at sea the cadaver could be identified. The islands are bleak, with strong winds and the people are tough.
